ECHOES

It's about an abandoned walkie‑talkie on an unknown landscape. The device still has power and picks up faint, broken signals, while a ship flies by in the distance. Together these elements suggest someone was here recently and raise questions about whether help arrived or was narrowly missed, keeping the outcome ambiguous.

I created the main asset in Blender. For the walkie‑talkie I focused on creating sci‑fi hardsurface design, adding small imperfections to textures so it would look as a believable, used device. I textured the asset in Substance Painter and exported PBR maps, then imported the model and textures into Unreal Engine 5 to assemble the scene, set lighting, and stage shots. Large environment elements and terrain came from Quixel Bridge, and I used an HDRI sky to create an otherworldly, planet‑like atmosphere and consistent ambient lighting. I rendered the sequence in UE5’s Movie Sequencer as PNG image sequence and imported those into After Effects for finalizing steps. In After Effects I motion‑tracked the walkie‑talkie screen and added emissive glow effect so the display would look more realistic. Once the picture was locked, I moved to sound design, layering ambient sounds and effects such as radio stuttering noise or flyby of spaceship. I used these sounds from website called Epidemic sounds.
